Arthur (Art) Davis was born November 8, 1929 in Eunice, LA to
John Arthur and Samantha Davis. Art lived a good life and passed away peacefully at Swedish
Hospital on April 19, 2021. Art relocated to Seattle, WA as a young man. Shortly after arriving
his father relocated to Seattle and together they owned an auto repair shop. In 1955 Art started
his own janitorial business, Art’s Janitorial Service, where he cleaned several Black Angus
restaurants, Ivars Salmon House and Paramount Theater. In 1977 he began to work for
DeLuxe Restaurant and that is where he met the owner and soon to be long time friend Joe
Rogel. After working 26 years for DeLuxe now owned by Joe’s son Barry, Art retired.
Art was well known in the neighborhood and was well respected by many both young and old
and will be greatly missed.
He is proceeded in death by his parents John and Samantha Davis, his wife Janet Davis, sister
Dorothy Davis, daughter Cheryl Travenia and grandson Jarret I.
He leaves to cherish is memory, his daughters, Angela P Campbell (Fred), Carmen Davis and
sons Sherman Davis and Daren Davis, 7 grandchildren, Jamel, Tiesha, Sherman Jr, Janet,
Jabali, Mia and Daniel, 7 great-grandchildren Jaranae, NyJarae, Amariyanna, Jarret II,
Tie’LaJiah, Tie’Janique, and LaMarr Jr. He also leaves a brother John Davis, 2 sisters Margie
Anderson (Willie) and Carmen Alupay, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
