Denise Evangeline Kelly

Denise E. Kelly passed away peacefully at the age of 92 at her home in Edgewood, WA, February 14, 2018. She is survived by her 4 children: Anne (Lintelmann), David, Jon, and Becky (Mayer), 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband LeRoy Kelly.

Denise Evangeline was the youngest of 6 children born December 6, 1925 to parents Rev. Julius and Anna Lorimer in Portland, Oregon and baptized in the Lutheran Church on January 24, 1926. She grew up in Oakland, CA where she was confirmed and attended school at California Concordia College from 1941-1944. Her activities included: class secretary, Girl’s Chorus, Mixed Glee and Kappa Gamma Sigma. She attended Augustana College in Rockford, Illinois. After Augustana, Denise became a field missionary for the Lutheran church. She enjoyed her mission work which took her to Yakima and Spokane, Washington, Vancouver, BC and eventually landed in Seattle. There, Denise met LeRoy Kelly, and the two were married in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Seattle on July 25th, 1959 in a ceremony performed by her brother Rev. Harold Lorimer. They made their home in Renton and raised their 4 children there. Denise loved being involved in her children’s lives and was active in PTA and many Boy Scout and Girl Scout activities. Active in her church Cross and Crown; she sung in the choir, taught Sunday school and VBS, volunteered on many committees, and enjoyed her Bible study group. Once she retired from teaching preschool, she and LeRoy enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren and taking off in their travel trailer on their square dancing adventures!

Denise touched many lives with her beautiful voice, loving heart and infectious smile and laugh. Denise is dearly loved and will be missed by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
