Gene Harold Green, a loving Father, passed away in his home in Kent, WA at the age of 83 on Tuesday, December 2nd, 2025. He was born on August 23rd, 1942, in Savannah Georgia, to his beloved parents Harold Green and Rosa Lee O’Neal. Having lived in many places around the world, they finally settled in Spokane, Washington, where he completed primary school.
After graduating from high school in 1963, he went on to serve in the U.S. Army from 1961 - 1966. He later went on to study Oceanography - Filmmaking and Psychology at the University of Washington, in Seattle from 1969 - 1972. Eventually moving on to carpentry and electrician trades, helping build the Seattle’s bus tunnel and the Seattle Art Museum.
As a natural born activist, he has always fought for the freedom of the people. He created one of the first Black Student Unions in Spokane, WA, and was a member of the Spokane Police - Minority Affairs Division. Fun fact: he was also a founding member of the Black Panther Party out of Oakland, California and a member of both the Spokane and Seattle WA Chapters.
Gene Green walked through life fulfilled with purpose and determination. From professionally boxing then transforming himself into coaching youth, his dedication to serving the community was outstanding. He graduated as Bishop at AL Hardy Academy and would go on to Minister at several Seattle Churches. Having such a riveting personality, it was easy for Gene to be loved by many.
He is preceded in death by his parents Harold Green & Rosa O'Neal, and stepfather Samuel O’Neal Sr, his brothers, Samuel Jr. O’Neal and Ray O’Neal, and his daughter Rosa T. Davis. He is survived by his children, Ronald Green, Willie Davis, TySonia Carr, Joseph Green, Breezy Green and Nephew Lamont O’Neal. Along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He is lovingly remembered by all, forever in our hearts and will be truly missed.
