Ollis Davis born November 15, 1925, to the late Callie Ann Kelly and Oscar Davis Sr, in Locust Grove
Georgia
Ollis attended school in Locust Grove completing the 8 th grade. After his schooling and varies jobs as a
youngster, Ollis joined the Works Progress Administration in 1943. He relocated to Chicopee Falls,
Massachusetts and was employed by U.S. Rubber Co as an apprentice machinist and auto mechanic.
At the age of 19 years old Ollis entered the U.S. Navy May 15, 1944. Serving as a Seaman Second Class.
Ollis was honorably discharged on March 13, 1946.
Ollis met Elnora Franklin and they married May 12, 1946, in Atlanta Georgia. Two sons were born soon
after. Gregory Ollis 1947, and Melvin Alan 1948. Ollis and Elnora moved to the Pacific Northwest
around 1950 settling in Seattle Washington. Two daughters were born, Christal Michelle and Regina
Diane.
Ollis and Elnora purchased a home in the Madrona neighborhood and raised their four children there.
Ollis was employed at Boeing Aircraft Company for 12 years. After Boeing he was employed at Isaacson
Iron Works for twenty plus years. Subsequently after Isaacson Ollis, was employed at Port of Seattle and
Seattle Police Department as a crossing guard for Seattle Public Schools.
Prior to and following his military service, Ollis participated in organized baseball in the Georgia state
area. He was quite a player and continued his love of the game of baseball until his passing. He was an
avid Mariners fan and rarely missed a game.
Ollis was active in community organizations in the Central Area of Seattle. He served as a board
member at CAMP (Central Area Motivation Program) in the late 1960” s. He also served as a volunteer
at Garfield High School in the metal shop and with P.I.E (Parents involved in Education)
Departing this life at 96 years old, Ollis is preceded in passing by his parents, Callie and Oscar Davis Sr.
He is the last surviving sibling. Miriam, Velmer, Gladys Davis. Irene Marshall. Brothers, James, Albert
and Oscar Davis jr. Two Grandchildren, Monique Jaylynn McClain and Terrance Kenneth Mitchell.
Left to cherish his memory are Gregory Ollis (Valerie) Melvin Alan (Diane), Christal Michelle, Regina
Diane Mitchell (Kenneth) Rev Thomas Holt (Betty) Atlanta, Ga. Sisters in law, Martha Davis, of Seattle,
Rosa Marie Ellison, and Joanne Strozier of Atlanta Ga. Doris Boozer of Chattanooga Tennessee.
Grandchildren, Janea, Teresa and Anthony Davis, Melinda Davis, Michelle Davis-Clark, Andrew and Meris
Mitchell all of Seattle, Washington.
Great Grandchildren, Essence Davis, Mariah Davis, Madison, Inaya, Riley and Parker Elnora Davis. O’sius
and Otagus Coverson. Naeem and Nasir’ Swain, Nyrell Davis. Drew Marie and Quincy Mitchell. Great
Great Granddaughter Princess Alayah Lynn Williams. And a host of nieces and nephews
We thank God for a life well lived....

I'm Free

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free. I'm following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard him call; I turned my back and left it all.
